Since I have come into the business of Online Marketing, I have occasionally had people approach me with generic questions such as “I am looking for a genuine Opportunity” with no other clue given apart from how hard their life is or what they do.

Its a commonly known fact that in business in general the rate of attrition is far higher than the rate of success in any business with obvious variations depending on the sector of industry

- Not to mention national and economic factors of course.

Back to the world on Online Marketing the level of attrition is quoted by many to be as high as 95%

- Typically people discover that it is possible to make money online and because of the low entry price point anything to do with making money naturally attracts a lot of people.

In my case it attracted me for several reasons so I came up with a list of Pros and Cons

The pros being

The low price point at which you can start to build an online business, for example a domain name costs $10 per year, reliable hosting can be as low as $6 per month and an email Autoresponder costs $19 per month

– where else can you start a business with these sort of metrics?

It was an opportunity to develop something at my own pace in my own time given my family and other business/work commitments.

The fact that this type of business has none of the human prejudices based on race, gender or where you come from – the fact I was it as a true level playing field was a great consideration as far as I could see

There are no geographic boundaries for this type of business so I should be able to make a living whilst living where I want to live

– not many people can say this, they are normally limited to the opportunities within their own localities.

There is a degree of automation with an online business, you can automate almost anything (even those idiots who cant be bothered to make proper comments on Blogs can automate their Blog commenting nowadays)

– so assuming you have your processes set up correctly and the perceived social proof and online ‘authority’ business will come to you whilst you are sleeping; its a great feeling waking up in the morning seeing your Pay Pal account full of transactions.

I also like the degree of joint co operation between online marketers, the way ‘rivals’ market each others products jointly, meaning you can build a sound business by using the leverage you have with other marketers…

…This is in stark contrast to say a row of shops selling the same thing, like two fast food outlets next to each other, you wont see them jointly helping each other.

With every Pro comes the negative part, some of which I include

This arena (the IM Niche in particular) is a haven for BS merchants who use well written Ad copy for products that have been recycled or promise the earth and turn out to be nothing more than a fad or something you could find out yourself with a little research

The people who fantasize on building large subscriber lists by swapping several times a day and end up with a large list of email addresses, most of whom ignore your messages, effectively all they are doing are abusing their subscribers and acting like the Viagra merchants and the fake blog commenters.

The people who use deception to get people to sign up or buy things thus sacrificing the reputation of themselves and their industry for the sake of a few bucks (you know the ones Subject Line: “Notification Of Payment Received” or “There Are Only 10 Copies Left”

The work you sometimes have to put in to to get questionable results – but you can say that about anything.

All in all from my perspective, despite my points above the positives far outweigh the negatives not least because I do see a moderate reward for what I do in the form of product sales, affiliate income and some advertising revenue

They are all small modest streams but when you add them together they look quite credible over a month – so this is something that I believe is scalable so intend to build on and stick with.

So Lets Compare The Types Of People We Come Across Online

Firstly The Types Of Opportunity Seeker

I believe that there are broadly two types of people that seek opportunities online;

opportunity seekers

and potential business owners

The first is the opportunity seeker who has seen an advert on a banner ad or an email that it is possible to make money online by signing up for a hyped up product or program, they know nothing about marketing or websites beyond switching their laptop on and opening and reading emails.

Their attitude is that of being led by the hand and taking the first thing they are given or sold without a thought of the steps needed to create a sustainable business and the credibility one needs to build for themselves.

Then you have the serious entrepreneur who realizes that they want an online business and are looking to find a place in the market whereby they can provide a service or product that solves a problem and makes peoples lives better.

These are the people who are used to the concept of business being a provider of goods and/or services and have put together a credible plan detailing the main steps and stages needed to get their project off the ground and their product in front of the customer.

Typically this type of person will realise that any business – especially in the initial learning phase will take a lot of time and effort to overcome the hurdles that will stand in their way.

For example they might have never heard of WordPress, or even know what a Blog is – and SEO, you just set up a website and customers will come wont they?

So What Are The Types Of Behaviour?

First of all I believe that as in everything in life, not all people are cut out be entrepreneurs or business owners, this applies as much online as it does anywhere else.

My past experience of business tells me that you have to be willing to go that extra mile to stand any chance of success, you need to manage every aspect from customer service, cash flow, business development, keep a sharp eye on external market and economic factors, the list never ends

– and if you get something wrong along the way or external factors you fail to mitigate for go against you, it can still go wrong and you pay a heavy price.

If you speak to the Gurus – Most will tell you a story of having failed at some point along the way but persisted and moved foward

– I have have my fair share of kicks in business (offline), which I wont go into here – believe is those who can pick themselves up and analyze why they have failed and learn from that in order to move forward and those who kick the whole thing into touch at the first setback.

After all everything that happens has a reason – if you experience failure or something goes wrong I believe you should always take a rain check and ask yourself why.

Correspondingly, if something works well for you, you need to ask yourself why and whether the answer means that your businesses is sitting on sound foundations or do you need to add some aspects to it in order to make it more fail proof.

The opportunity seeker will follow a lead and treat what they are told as Gospel believing that if they follow a simple guide it will make them rich – what they don’t take into account are the skill sets they may require; time to implement and the market they are facing in evaluating whether opportunity X is right for them.

Do they ask the question – if I am doing this, how many other people are doing the same thing?

Or what is my potential customer base?

Or how will I get these processes into place?

Or fundamentally – Do I have the Time?

Or even more importantly – What do I need to learn to achieve X or can I get someone to do it for me?

How To Spot the Difference Between Both Sets Of Behaviour

Lets Start Off With The Entrepreneur

An entrepreneur worth their salt will have an idea of what they are trying to achieve or even notice a gap in the market and have a vision for a solution.

They may also be looking at opportunities and ideas from others in their line of business and may even add the occasional strategy or system if they think it fits as a supplement to their core activities.

So whether it’s building their list or a series of profitable websites they have some kind of vision as to how they want to see things shape long term.

They are not tossed and turned on the waves of the latest fad that the gurus are pitching online.

Another characteristic is that they would also invest time putting into place processes so that they can track results for what they have done so as to give them an idea whether they need to put more effort into a certain aspect or put it to one side.

This person will have a much better chance of success because their fundamental habits are as coherent action takers who follow a plan and are able to track their progress over time.

Typically, when the business owner starts the day he or she has a list of things that need be done that day, written out at the end of the day before.

This keeps him or her on track and enables them to focus on proper business building as a priority each day.

Once they hit a roadblock, they have a clear idea how they are going to pass that hurdle because their plans are clearly defined and they know where they are going.

Now Lets Look At The Opportunity Seeker

Contrast this with the behavior of the opportunity seeker who may spend all day surfing websites, looking at emails and opting into lists thinking something big is going to happen today – they live on hope.

We all read emails and offers because I for one I like to see what other people are doing, and what innovations there are out there – but I don’t do this as a primary task.

My primary tasks when I log in are checking traffic stats, list opt ins, sales stats, answering customer emails etc to determine what results the actions I have taken in the past few days have produced and to keep others happy.

If one is looking for opportunities without a vision of where you are trying to go all you are doing is developing someone else’s business – This type of behaviour will never lead to success.

Another fundamental difference in attitude here is in the knowledge of the online business owner that success online as in anywhere is life will depend upon persistence and following through on plans…

…Its one thing having a plan, quite another seeing it through.

The trouble with opportunity seeking all the time is that even if a particular plan is flawed it wont be possible to find out if one is constantly seeking new directions before putting something into place…

So one method must be tried and tested until you can make a concious decsion as to whether it’s worthwhile or not.

Other Considerations

As in all business environments, just because you have a plan and take action does not in itself guarantee success – I can vouch for this.

What a plan does do though is help you identify flaws in your approach and ask the difficult questions like “Is there a demand for this?” or “Is my Sales Copy Ok?” or even “Am I pitching to the right audience” so you can quickly put things right.

Also when you fall off the core task of what you are supposed to be doing with all the external noise (like me sending you an email asking you to read my Blog posts) you are able to come back to your plan and pick up where you left off.

Other issues (I can speak from personal experience) is that some people attempt too many things at once and hop from one method to another without really mastering any method completely…

… we know that online there are so many things to master, PPC, Banner Ads, Article Writing, email marketing

The list is endless so perhaps you need a small number of strategies and a basic offering which you can get working now before moving on and adding bits to it

I am sure you have heard the phrase

“Don’t get it right, get it working”

…So a credible plan will therefore contain a list of things that are achievable by you (and help you identify where you need to seek help or to outsource)

– For example I have no idea (or interest) in creating graphics or banners, there are plenty of people online who will do that for me for a small amount of money – so I am happy to leave that task to others and get on with the things I am good at and enjoy.

Another tip is to concentrate on producing the types of material that best match your skills, in my case I prefer the written to word to video or audio, other people are totally at home in front of the camera and can talk all day but may not be so good when it comes to writing good content.

If you do something you are not good at; for example it might be producing sales letters it will never look as convincing as something produced by a professional Copywriter, so its important to realise that everybody has their strengths and weaknesses.

Summary

I hope this article clearly identifies the difference between the two sets of people – those who are willing to give something a go and are taking action and succeeding (maybe with some failures along the way) and those who think that magically something is just going to turn up and fill up their Pay Pal accounts (if anyone finds one of these – please let me know cos I’ve never found one ).

I am not advocating that everyone stops reading their emails and looking for opportunities, because you never know what might come up that could be of use – theres a huge amount of information and free stuff out there, you just need to get your shopping head on and carefully select whats worth having and whats not.

I go with the view of when I see something that looks good come into my Inbox – I ask “Is this of use to me?” And even more importantly “If I buy this will I have time to time to implement it, without it stalling my own progress?”

I purchase small products on a regular basis, if its something I can use I will do and if I can sell it because its worth having I’ll do that as well.

The key message I am trying to get across is that anyone who wants to put themselves in the ‘business owner’ bracket really do need to have their core entities in place, be it core knowledge or infrastructure and use the ‘opportunities’ as supplements which will improve their core business

…because I cannot think of a single out of the box product that would make you a decent return without you doing tons of work unless you have some core foundations of your own business or levels of knowledge in place in the first instance.

Make Sense?

So the question from me is –

Do you view yourself as an Opportunity Seeker, a Business Owner or a Potential Business Owner?

Or a bit of both?

We know they are out there but it’s all a matter of finding them.

We know they can make us money if only we get them right.

What am I referring to? Profitable niches of course -

The Holy Grail of the Internet Marketer

It’s little wonder that newbies and old hands alike struggle over which niches to focus on.

After all we want to make sure that they are profitable and that we can make money from them.

Internet marketing is just too time consuming to waste all your efforts in a sector where people are just not going to buy.

So what indicators are out there which can tell you whether you have found a profitable niche?

Hopefully the following points will provide you with some of the things that can put you on the right track right now.

It is said that the core principle in carrying out such research is to remember that the broad areas of health, wealth and love are probably the main things that fit with peoples needs so its obvious to say that this is where people are willing to spend money.

Whatever country, culture and environment people will always want to be healthier, wealthier and will be looking for ways to better their love lives.

This is a very broad idea and people do spend money on the oddest things, so if you want to move beyond this you could also look at a site like Amazon and look up what people are buying by accessing the top one hundred sellers.

Its important to remember this

If it’s selling on Amazon there is a market for it.

Another pointer is to see whether there are forums on the topic.

Taking it one step further are there magazines on this topic?

And is there a “guide for dummies”?

Anything that solves a problem by removing pain at any level will mean you have the potential to make money.

So What About Tools?

When Marketing online Keyword Tools are a must so you can see who is looking for the product you are selling.

I would go for the Google keyword tool where you can access the number of searches something is getting every month. I like to use the exact match or phrase match to look at the numbers.

Alternatively there is a Firefox add on called Wordtracker which opens as a small window on the side of your screen.

If there are reasonable numbers of searches on a keyword or long tail keyword then that shows there is a market.

You could also look at the Cost Per Click function in the Google Keyword tool which will tell what people are actually paying for the keywords on average to advertise.

The higher the cost, the more likely it is that you have come across a profitable market.

The next step it to type the keywords into Google and look to see who is advertising for those words.

If you can find say 5 ads on the right for these words it means that people are bidding on them and buying them.

Decent marketers will not continue to use keywords in their campaigns that are not converting for them.

Another tool which will really help you drill down into a Niche and look at Strength Of Competition Indicators is a piece of software called Micro Niche Finder.

This piece of software has been around for a long time – it gives you a graphical view of search terms and has a whole load more functionality.

What About The Competition?

The final part of the jigsaw before deciding on a Niche is to evaluate the competition.

In addition to the Micro Niche Finder software option above there are plenty of free and simple ways you can do this.

We all know that the Internet Marketing Niche, Health, Weight loss etc are extremely crowded so like in any arena of business if you are up against many other marketers doing the same thing you have to be able to evaluate whether there is money to be made.

A simple method is to look at how many competing pages there are for the search I am doing. You can do this by typing the keywords in quotes and looking at the amount of competing pages.

It’s important here though to go to the end of the search results in order to get a true idea of the amount of competing pages.

Go all the way to the last page on the results and you will see the figure in quotes change sometimes.

The figure in quotes at the very end of the pages when you are scrolling through is the true number of competing pages.

Another effective method for evaluating competition is to have a look at Clickbank to get an idea as to what a profitable niche looks like.

Every product for sale in Clickbank has what’s known as gravity score and although nobody really knows what it comprises of, it’s generally accepted that the higher the gravity score the more profitable the product will be.

Some people say that the gravity score equates to the amount of affiliates that have sold the product in the last month so obviously the higher the score the better here because people are making money in this niche.

gain you will notice that the areas of Health, Wealth and Love are some of the major players here with Weight Loss, Internet Marketing and Relationship products having some good gravity scores.

If you really want to open your mind to more profitable niches you might also want to consider looking at various physical products to market online with the wealth of other affiliate networks out there at the moment.

Setting up sites and campaigns related to specific products can be a really great way of getting people who are laser targeted on something specific and they can convert a lot easier for you.

Ultimately giving people what they want in a niche where there is a demand as long as there is not too much competition in that specific area is the ultimate recipe for success.

I hope this Blog post has given you a few pointers as to what to look out for.

I have written blog posts and articles before along the lines of Planning and Organizational Skills but thought I would share some thoughts today as it is a very important consideration and possibly one of the most overlooked.

This is also something that should apply to your whole life, cos’ if you have no structure, plan or organization how are you ever going to be productive in your whole life let alone online.

This is not something that comes naturally to me so this post is as much about myself as it may to whoever chooses to read this.

Getting into online mode, I think its fair to say that we all know that anyone trying to run an online business especially in the early days can get the life sucked out of them with the sheer amount of learning, tasks and information thrown at them.

I remember how overwhelmed I felt in the early days when I first started out. My hard drive was usually cluttered up with the latest eBook or download that I bought and my desk was a mess with stuff I had printed out all over the place.

The problem I had was I had a good idea what needed to be done, but I had no idea how to do it, and by the time got to thinking about how to do something, I would suddenly have other stuff fired at me and the cycle goes round.

So How Did I Fix This?

The first step was to get myself organized so I knew WHERE I was at and WHAT I needed to do to move forward.
In order to do this one needs a clear mind I thought so the first task is to de-clutter everything and organize my working environment.

I still have to do this occasionally when I let things slip but the benefit of having a sharp focus, knowing what needs to get done and doing it makes a huge difference I found to my productivity

So what are the items I need to look at (apart from my brain)?

Clear Your PC

Having opted in to God knows how many lists and purchasing several products I have found them scattered all over my PC.

The folders become so full that you don’t know where to find anything when you need it.

Obvious solution?

Create a single download folder on your desktop. In that folder create 3 sub folders, one Free For Personal Use, one for Products To Give Away and one for Items That Can Be Re sold.

You can even split this down further into software, ebooks, widgets, however you see fit.

Every time you optin on purchase something, put it straight into the right folder and make a note on your To Do List when to go through it.

Simple Eh? If you want a planner or to do list, get in contact with me and I will be able to help you out.

Organize Your Physical Workspace

Now the PC is sorted the next area must be the desk and workspace.

I find that getting rid of all distractions and keeping a clear desk will automatically make you more productive.

If you print off plans and ebooks make up a folder for these and keep them filed away.

If you write plans then keep all your to do lists in one place. If something has not been completed then carry that task over to your next to do list and file the old one away in your folder.

‘Create an Ideas Folder’

Write any ideas you have when they come into your mind and put them into an ‘Ideas Folder’ in your filing cabinet.

As I was working away every day I would get ideas coming into my head about different directions I could take or projects that I would set up.

The problem was though that I would soon get distracted with something else and a lot of my better ideas would be lost. What I decided to do was to create a special drawer for different ideas that I had. I soon found that I was able look over the different ideas at the end of each day and go with the ideas that made the most sense to me then.

Create A Folder For Your Plans

When you create written to do sheets or Gantt charts, get into the habit of filing them away so they are all in one place in date order.

This worked really well alongside the ideas folder I created in that I was able have one place for all my plans as opposed to them being scattered all over the desktop. This also enabled me to review my plans at various stages with ease and find out what was working and what wasn’t.

Keep Diary Entries

It is worth writing briefly what you have done at the end of each day so in time you can look back and remind yourself what you have achieved.
This is a powerful motivator as if you can show tangible progress this should strive you on to achieve more.

Prioritize Your Tasks

A hugely important thing to be able to do is prioritize the tasks that need to be done in order of importance.

Clearly a good piece of advice given that time is our most precious commodity is to stick to tasks that make you money.

If it doesn’t make you money it can wait or perhaps you can task someone else to do it.

To Recap

My experience tells me that all the most successful people online that I have come across so far all have one thing in common – they are all major action takers.

I manage my online activities on a part time basis, so with a variety of work, family and business commitments I have to force myself to be organized in order to give me the required focus – for example if I didn’t plan I would not know where to pick up where I left off when I postpone a task.

So in order to put yourself in with a chance of becoming a major action taker you need to have the laser sharp focus in order to be able to complete the tasks in hand.

Without this focus and organization I believe it is not possible to get the things done that need to be done which will lead you to the ‘promised land’.

I just thought I would share some opinions on something I have noticed recently when it comes to Internet Marketing, particularly in respect of people who are on email lists looking for opportunities.

Day after day our Inboxes are filled with product after product from all the Gurus out there, all promising that they have the answer to your dream of making it online.

These emails, products and sales pages are designed to catch your attention and draw you into the sales story. Before you know it you have opted in to another list and perhaps purchased another One Time Offer.

It’s easy to see how we can become stuck in information overload and in a constant cycle of learning, ultimately leading to confusion and overwhelm.

The fact is though; that if you want to be successful online there is one very important lesson that you will have to learn and that is to make the transition from constantly learning new things to actually applying what you have learned out there is the market.

It’s just so easy to get caught up in the constant cycle of learning everyday and forget to actually apply the knowledge so you can start to actually build your business. Indeed I have found the best way of learning is actually DOING, making a few mistakes along the way then rectifying.

Using a non Internet off-line example there is a member of my family who shall remain nameless and is now nearing 40 who seems to have been in college all her life.

She is so busy studying and learning it seems she has forgotten that when you study something you need to get out into the world of work and apply what you learned at the end of it – a bit blunt but its a fact. The end result is no career, loads of debt and no money. How many times have we heard this type of story before?

The key thing to remember is that in our world Internet Marketing is SIMPLE and is about putting together the 3 core building blocks of an online business:

THE OFFER – something that needs to be useful to the target audience

TRAFFIC – there are many ways of doing this, stick with a few methods

and CONVERTING some of that traffic to paying customers,

…..thats it.

To do this you need an Offer Page, (there are plenty of these that can be obtained cheaply or even for free, anyone who wants help in this respect give me a shout, I have plenty), A Hosting Account and an Autoresponder – thats it, the rest is due process.

Building any business is about putting together a credible plan outlining what your goals are then TAKING ACTION taking action towards your goals and managing your time appropriately.

Its no good downloading free offer after offer, or purchasing product after product then not doing anything with them and complaining that marketing on the Internet does not work, cos it does if applied correctly.

I see many people opt out of my email lists and time and time again they say ‘information overload’ or ‘too many emails’. My answer to that is if there are too many emails and you have a tight schedule, skim through to check there is nothing important (it should be obvious whats an offer) and hit the delete button.

You never know, one day that marketer who sends you emails may just send you something you will find of huge benefit.

At the end of the day there are no real secrets or smoke and mirrors elements to making money online.

So if you’re new to Internet marketing or stuck in a rut, think of those core principles mentioned above, keep everything as simple as possible then improve your offerings as you go on and you shouldn’t go far wrong.

If you are stuck for something to offer, here is a ready made product that contains 10 great free Offer Packages which you can use to start building as subscriber list

1O Reseller Package Website with full graphics and free reports

Once you have setup the offer page, linked it to your autoresponder added a One Time Offer and set up the download page, you can improve your offer by adding one or two bannners for a related product to your download page, indeed there are many marketers that pay you for leads, so you don’t even have to sell anything!

Some pay as much as $1 or $2 per lead so here you have a ready made small income stream for doing nothing extra, this is the beauty of online marketing (theres one on this blog HINT, HINT!).

Anyone who says you simply need to click a few buttons (with a picture of a Ferrari and Mansion on their sales page) and you will make millions are talking nonsense and being totally misleading, but the fact is if you set your offers up properly ensuring they are of immense value and can drive traffic to them you will make money.

Once you have made that small amount of money then you build on that success and move on to the next level. Its a process of small results and improvements and eventually given the right application and focus you should get to where you want to go.

Thats enough of my rant today. Did you find this Blog Post useful? If so please leave your comments below letting me know your thoughts.

I thought I would create this Blog post to give some thoughts on the GURUs NIGHTMARE report I read last night.

I have been learning and applying Internet Marketing for over a year now. I have this Blog which I post to occasionally, I have a Subscriber List which is growing at a steady rate and I now know a lot of very good marketers which I can learn from and which we can leverage from each other.

I also make a bit of money out of this, not a huge amount but I haven’t really been focussed on the monetisation aspect of it – the last thing I want to do is to shove loads of paid offers down the throats of my subscribers as it is of my belief that

….whilst I am trying to ultimately make a living out of this, I am fully aware that I must deliver content and value to my subscribers in order that they can learn from me and move forward, we are Internet Marketers – NOT Internet Sellers.

With that in mind, those of you who may have read my previous Blog post will know that from 1 April I will be Ad Swapping no more than once per week on my main list and striving to provide content and value the rest of the time, with the odd promotion if its is worthy of course.

So my subscribers will receive an offer, perhaps an email pointing them to a Blog post like this in order that they can learn and the odd promotion to a new product launch, so really all in all you are looking at 6-8 emails per month.

I see several marketers churn out offer and after offer day after day, which they are using to drive traffic and build lists. I fear that there are so many people doing this now that email marketing is going to become less and less effective…

I get the feeling that this has become the method of choice for many marketers and the pure focus on building a list without providing value is not going to pay off for most – having a big list is great but if your clicks are only the same as with a list the quarter of the size it seems pointless to use this approach.

To illustrate my point I will swap daily for a limited time on another parallel list with another offer, having 2 strategies working side by side.

One to provide content

…and the other to churn offer after offer like many other marketers do.

Now for the Marketing bit. Alex Jeffreys who has now mentored 100s of people including myself has released a report, GURUS NIGHTMARE only yesterday.

I sat there last night and read the whole thing through, it took about 2 hours after putting the kids to bed so I has finished by around 10:30 PM.

There is a lot of background information in there – most of which I was already aware of but the thing that jumped out and hit me most was Alex’s description of marketing – this is the part of the puzzle I believe most people are missing.

Once you take in the background stuff and ignore the fact that there are plenty of spelling typos you will see that there is a heck of a lot of marketing wisdom in this report

To quote something Alex has borrowed from Wipikedia as a definition of marketing

“Marketing is the process by which companies determine what products or services may be of interest to customers, and the strategy to use in sales, communications and business development.

It is an integrated process through which companies create value for customers and build strong customer relationships in order to capture value from customers in return.

Marketing is used to identify the customer, to keep the customer and to satisfy the customer. With the customer as the focus of its activities, it can be concluded that marketing management is one of the major components of business management.

The evolution of marketing was caused due to mature markets and overcapacities in the last 2-3 centuries. Companies then shifted the focus from production to the customer in order to stay profitable.

The term marketing concept holds that achieving organizational goals depends on knowing the needs and wants of target markets and delivering the desired satisfactions.

It proposes that in order to satisfy its organizational objectives, an organization should anticipate the needs and wants of consumers and satisfy these more effectively than competitors”.

In a nutshell I believe the definition states that marketing is a way of connecting with and meeting the aspirations of the customer by creating value.

So basically, there is a whole IM industry of turn key businesses in a box out there to which site owners promise that all you have to do is copy this process, put your Paypal button on the site and you will make 1000s of $ etc which most of us know is pure BS.

Anyone can learn to put together a website and a process but they don’t tell you how to position yourself in the marketplace and do the things that define marketing.

So I am going to borrow one more sentence from this report which defines marketing how Alex sees it:

“To create a sales, you need to use social proof via your marketing, to close a sale, you need to overcome prospect procrastination, through scarcity and urgency”

Overall, I believe there are two functions to Internet marketing which need to be separated out:

1. The first is to know how to design your business model so you know how business works in a way that is as automated as possible and take action of course.

2. The second is to know how to meet your customers aspirations without peddling too many offers in front of them, for example I could show you today how to build a list from nothing, I have put together 3 web pages yesterday at midday sent out 3 or 4 emails and have so far added close to 150 new subscribers for very little effort once set up – this is building, but to market to these leads moving forward is the missing piece of the puzzle for many.

Alex has always said that he has the right people around him to build websites, optimize SEO etc, and it does take a lot of time and effort so he can spend his time MARKETING rather than building things.

People like myself don’t have this luxury to use other people but since being coached last year I have always tried to bin the fiddly time consuming tasks unless they are really important and concentrate on the things that matter.

So my marketing thus far has been learning how to build things like blogs and lists etc and sharing this but I believe it is now time for me to think about marketing properly.

If anyone who is reading this post is of the same thought then you can download GURUs NIGHTMARE here.

Alex is inviting people to a free private webinar in the first week of April how to run a Marketing Campaign which you will be invited to just for leaving a comment on his Blog post,

….. not to mention the competition for FREE coaching offered to the 5 best comments left on his blog post.

Anyone reading this blog post, please leave a comment below letting me know what your aspirations are including where you think you need help and what you would expect to see from me in future – this will help me shape what I can do for you in future.

Also anyone interested in Marketing themselves as opposed to just Selling – this report is worth you putting a couple of hours aside in a quiet room and having a read of GURUS NIGHTMARE.

Happy reading!

Being a naturally curious person I am always keen to look at and test products, including methods of marketing and selling – I have a self imposed rule that I would never promote or try to sell anything I wouldn’t be prepared to buy myself so I expect others to act in the same way.

Needless to say, anything that sounds too good to be true normally is……….

I would also go so far as to say that I would rather not be in this business than be in the business of selling c***p to people with the associated fall out afterwards.

I recently came across an email Ad asking if I wanted 50,000 visitors to my website, I thought why not have a look, no one would turn down the chance to have 50,000 visitors, would they?

Anyway, I have copied the email promotion below, which indicates that for attending the Webcast you get 50,000 visitors pouring into your website! Great I thought, theres some big claims here, lets have a look!

Anyway, I attended the Webcast, and listened to Dr Lant – what I could glean from the Presentation was that he said his base was in a posh district where current and ex US presidents had studied law (I thought his office was based in Edmonton, which according to my geographical knowledge of North America is in Alberta, Canada, no where near Washington/New York districts – around 2000 miles away.

Also the office in the background of the Webcast didn’t look exactly plush, plenty of clutter, not normally what you would see in a professional marketing pitch, even the scammers do that bit well!

My videos aren’t too much to write home about but then again I am not in the business of claiming to run an empire that gets 5 million visitors to my site every day and anyone who listens to my presentation will get 50,000 visitors, enough said!

The basic model of the business seems to be that you pay $97 per month, for this you get a website, a load of sales material such as squeeze pages and some digital products you can sell with agents to close your sales?

What does he mean by ‘agents to close your sales’? I thought if you are selling products online in an automated way then why would you need people closing down your sales online unless you are trying to convince people to join to join Worldprofit?

So my presumption can only be that his more senior associates put pressure on you to join WorldProfit, making this is an online pyramid selling system.

The next part of the pitch was Dr Lant using hard sell techniques to close the sale with help from online agents, with patronsing questions such as, “whats the problem don’t you have any money” then to others on the Webcast “hey everybody Peter has no money” – Clearly this is an old fashioned pressure selling technique, give the pitch and remove the reasons for people not wanting to buy from you. I think I’ve seen this kind of behaviour with the awful time share sellers whilst on holiday.

My answer was simple, “I need to do some research and Due Dilligence” to which the reply was “You don’t need to do that, its been done already” and “Peter, what are you thinking? You are making a big mistake”

In the closing part they put the point across strongly how they are approved by the Edmonton Business Bureau – This is a Business Authority/Regulator in Alberta, whilst it may show that they are a real company it doesn’t tell me the criteria they are measured on and certainly doesn’t have a worldwide remit.

I’ve seen it before in business, its quite easy to tick all the boxes if you know the world of business and you know the criteria they base their assessment on, it doesn’t necessarily tell you how and whether the business is a viable proposition.

Anyway, my initial view is that this is an expensive hosting company that gives you a turn key website in which you can try to sell a load of digital products, most of which you can probably get free from giveaway sites and your sales for which you get help are based on recruiting more people to join Worldprofit.

I don’t want to criticize Worldprofit but I would like to hear if there is anyone out there who IS making money in an ethical way, not just by selling memberships.

On another note I entered this Blog’s address into their goody bag and in about 5 days have only received around 23 visitors according to my Google analytics account, a far cry from the promised 50,000 visitors!

Anyway, as it stands I for one would not touch this with a bargepole unless someone can convince me otherwise; the Internet Marketing world like many other business sectors does need to be cleaned up, if everyone followed the approach that you should be known, liked and trusted and prepared to give something up front and not just take your money the world would be a much better place.

Any unbiased views from REAL people on this site would be more than welcome.
