wordpress -self hosted one- gives you the power to have as many users as you want ,, it’s unlimited ,, not like the hosted blogs at wordpress.com which offer just 35 user per each blog
you can get to the users page  to check their status at Users link in your dashboard
you can set the registeration and the type of the new user registeration default at the options link
- you can open th registeraton or close it
- you can set the commenting status 
- you can also change the default capability of the new users [ and that is what we are talking about today  

Summary of Roles
- Administrator - can  access to all the administration tools
- Editor - can  publish posts, manage posts as well as manage other’s posts, etc.
- Author - can publish and manage his/her own posts
- Contributor - can write and manage his/her posts but not publish it
- Subscriber -  can read comments/comment/receive news letters, etc.

If you use this Plugin to manage your Wordpress, Users can belong to only one role and can have individual capabilities assigned to them outside of the context of a role.
Donload and Installation
- Download the “Role Manager” Plugin
- Make a new directory “
role-manager” underwp-content/plugins - Unzip the downloaded file and copy all included files in the new directory
- Activate the Plugin at your WordPress “Plugins”-Tab
- Ready!
