Hitting a Brick Wall and Getting Back To The Drawing Board………..
I like many others on Alex Jeffreys Coaching Program now feel that I have hit that Internet Marketing Brick wall that many talk about.
I have followed a plan, created my first ever video, put together squeeze pages, built a FREE product, submitted this to giveaway sites and slowly but surely started building lists. What more can I do I ask myself?
I was on the train to a meeting in London last week and had a chance to think about all of this. I got my notebook out and put together a number of Mini Mind Maps focusing on all the things I thought I need to be looking at to move things forwards.
Things were getting a little blurred, I was starting to fall back into old habits of reading too many emails and not getting much done – I thought time I have to do this is scarce, I must use it wisely!
Thinking back on the Coaching program which seems to be a wee while back now, I studied the first module with interest but did not see the requirements in the early stages complex enough to warrant using Mind Maps, so only stuck with a basic plan.
I figured that now I have more or less exhausted my plan and there are now many things that need to be done concurrently, not to mention that other students on similar courses normally fall away at this late stage of the game, I became determined not to become one of them. I will honour my early pledge, I will not give up and will keep plugging away until I succeed.
Besides, I have enjoyed it too much and met too many interesting people to want to throw in the towel anyway.
It hasn’t been lost on me that there seems to be a lot less activity now with posting on other peoples Blogs and onto the forum. I don’t think this has been lost on the Coaching Staff either, so it will be interesting to see what comes out of the next Module tomorrow.
I believe that if you are to move your endeavors forward, you must focus on a couple of key things, mainly generating traffic and building a list.
But before that there are a couple of things to consider to enable that to happen, Alex has touched on this himself many times:
a. You must give your traffic a reason to want to come to you in the first place,
and b. they need good reasons to want to come back to you.
So in order for this to happen I have decided to focus on the things that I think need to be put in place first.
For example, any squeeze page from any Profit Pulling Platform should be unique to you, even if the back end product isn’t, videos must look reasonable and half professional and be your own and your email marketing needs to be targeted to the type of list you have.
With that in mind, I took a leaf out of Alex Jeffreys first module and decided to create a brand new Mind Map from scratch, focusing on all the things I think need to be done. Below is what I have put together so far:

I’m sure there are things missing, but what I have now will be fed into a 90 day plan and I will write out my weekly plan every Sunday night. The Mind Map will be amended no doubt as new things come to the fore and will feed into the 90 day plan.
Basically, in the next 90 days I am broadly aiming to complete the following:
- email marketing on the back of products and PPPs
- Reviews other IM products TO HELP research for my own product, then start to build it
- Improve my video production techniques
- Imcrease traffic to my blog
- Create material to supplement my free product, emails, videos, etc
- Learn speed reading and writing skills from the Founders Club
In summary, what Alex Jeffreys has done is given us the ingredients to build all the key pillars of Internet Marketing enabling you to plan, move forward and turn it into something.
Nevertheless, I firmly believe I can achieve most of this in the next 90 days if not the product.

Hey Peter,
There is no problem for me draw and write a plan (as a formal planning officer of Armed Forces). Most difficult is following these plans!
Thats the key – sticking to them, tell me about it!
Peter,
I totally know what you mean by the road block.
I think it’s more of a plateau more than anything else. I noticed that when ever I had a fresh product out there, I would make steady sales but eventually as they get older they start to die out, which is totally predictable. What I am trying to work on now is a really decked out sales funnel that kind of regenerates traffic as more people get added to the list.
That is a key I think. Having other people do the traffic generation for you.
“Things were getting a little blurred, I was starting to fall back into old habits of reading too many emails and not getting much done.”
It’s funny how easy it is to fall back into that. I find myself doing that from time to time as well.
All we can really do is keep on chugging, right?

Its an awful but easy habit to fall into. The roadblock is a point where you dont know where you are coming or going, information overload etc. Thats why you work to a plan so you have something to fall back on.
The key I think is being to set yourself a time limit that you spend on emails per day. I have to go throught mine as I am always getting requests for Ad Swaps that dont always fall into the right folder so I have to be sharp to spot them.
Interesting post. I think it’s
pretty essential to examine why
you’ve become blocked.
Several times in my blog, for
example, I noted that I’m unlike
Alex ~ I don’t share the same
passions, or interests.
That said I can readily apply
what he taught to my interests and
passions, even though I will no longer
be selling to the I.M. crowd.

Dear Peter-
I have to admit planning is one of my weak points. Part of this personally for me is taking action (getting into action) without a clear strategy and without putting it to paper.
Now that the holidays are setting in, I am going back and take the time to really plan for the coming year.
Evan
It doesn’t come naturaly to me either but in this game its something you must do – thats why 99% of online marketers fail
Hi Peter,
I like your post and the mind map is looking great.
I’m sure that it’s helping you stay on track. The brick wall is coming up periodically and we can all get over it as long as we keep things in perspective and don’t quit.
It can be plainly seen from the mind map that there is a lot to do and doing it is the only way to move forward.
At the same time taking a breather is necessary to maintain a sense of well being and sanity.
I find that working long hours days on end lowers productivity too much.
It is much better to get enough rest and then work hard and alternate the two.

Ive got to vut the M Map down cos I’ve got too many other things going on outside IM so this really is far too ambitious – I think gettting the blog looking pretty, some good content and List building are the things I am going to stick to for now, the rest can be done later on
Peter,
Great post, great blog, congrats!
Your new mind map is impressive, I’m sure you’re now knocking down every item, one by one.
After module 7 I also realized I had to retreat to regroup forces. One thing I’ve had to realize is that it will take me longer to get there but, same as you, I’ve got to press on.
Cheers,
Jose
Hello from Russia!
Can I quote a post in your blog with the link to you?
Of course as long its to do with Internet Marketing
I’m getting a lot of spam at the moment, viagra etc
Peter,
I am looking forward to seeing how your 90 day plan plays out. I really like your mind map — it sounds like creating it really helped to define your 90 day plan. Great job! -Norene
Oh my! I’ve never seen anything like that; it hurt my head! lol
I will say, though, that keeping up with the idea of figuring out ways of driving traffic to one’s site is what I deal with all the time. I haven’t built any lists because I’m not sure why I’d build the list, so that’s another thing to think about.
But it certainly looks like you’ve got your thought process down; I’m closing my eyes now.
don’t worry mitch, my head hurts thinking about it. how am i going to get all this done i ask myself?
Hey Peter,
Awesome post!
Your mind map looks VERY detailed, and this is definitely something I need to do in the next few days
Thanks for the tip on the software
Great job, talk soon!
Paul
Hey Peter,
That’s an excellent mindmap.
I think most people do hit that wall at some point, the thing for most is if they don’t see the results they expected then they get a bit disheartened.
The thing to remember is that you are building a business and it is more of a marathon than a sprint.
Starting from scratch with a plan can be a good thing,at least you can cut out from your plan the things that you feel are using up to much of your time when you could be doing something more important instead.

Great post with a positive can-do attitude! I’ve been away recently so have missed this lack of momentum that you mention but have seen less forum posts when I have logged in to check on what I missed, perhaps we were all just lacking our leader whilst he was on Honeymoon!?
I think the key is to drive forwards with the right attitude as after all if you don’t change something then you are likely to regress to old habits. We have all come quite away in the last 2 months and its important not to let the early enthusiasm and momentum wane as we are now on our way to success.
As with what you did, I now need to revise my plans and goals to propel me to that next level.
To our success….
Tom
I’m sure like anything it just takes endeavour. As long as we do the right things then hopefully it will all come together well.
hey peter,
great post mate … i TOTALLY understand about the roadblock
and the module tomorrow covers this exactly,
you have hit the nail on the head so be excited for the coaching
session tomorrow,

students talk about you and your blog – so we’ll done,
im glad you are getting out there making things happen
talk to you tomorrow
alex
Thanks for the comment Alex, I hope the comments were good. Paul Wilson did mention that he had spoken to you – I wanted to go myself but had spent far too much time on the road in the days leading up to it so had to take time with the family
